Why: Better than Glitter. More entertaining than the Ratner-directed X-Men: The Last Stand. And — thanks to some goofball mugging from co-star Jack "Kenneth" McBrayer — nearly as amusing as an episode of 30 Rock. The most (intentionally) funny video Mariah has ever made.

Mariah Carey just released a new video, courtesy of a blockbuster Hollywood director. The clip, from "Rush Hour" director Brett Ratner, features "30 Rock's" Jack McBrayer, and effectively stole some of the thunder from [Janet] Jackson's release.

How is it possible, you wonder, that Mariah Carey, the difficult-to-interview, always high-maintenance songstress has finally won Scoop over? Easy: She cast Jack McBrayer, the lovable-yet-cloying page from "30 Rock" in her new video, "Touch My Body." Either Carey is much more pop-culture savvy than we're giving her credit for, or Carey has some good advisors at the moment. Either way, the video's worth a look.

But in her new "Touch My Body" video, she's doing it big and totally funny, with 30 Rock's Jack McBrayer (the new Jack McFarland!), a pink princess party dress (which we really want), a for-real unicorn (which we really want), a Catholic school girl costume circa Camelot-era Britney, and over four full minutes of free advertising for YouTube.
Director Brett Ratner - who, in addition to directing several feature films, shot five other Mariah videos and Jessica Simpson in her "These Boots Were Made For Walkin'" video - praised Mariah, saying "Mariah is musically at the top of her game and has never looked better…" and we'd be hard-pressed to disagree - you could freaking clean your dirty laundry on that girl's abs.

a beautiful mind new addition
Cady recently updated her amazing post about politics and the 08 Race, due to apparently a lot of comments she had to add in a few last words.
I am thrilled at the comments you have contributed. Every one makes a valid and important point. I agree that choosing a president should ultimately be based on their qualifications as an individual, and whomever wins in the public eye as the most qualified hopefully will be the most qualified. The issue is the matter of fair representation by the media so that we the public can make that decision without prejudice. Sexism and racism can be hidden in carefully selected words and phrases. While we are so careful to avoid being called “racists”, the same does not apply regarding sexism. This is my issue. For Obama to use the phrase “the claws are out”, is a direct reference to a woman being like a cat- hissing, bitchy, savage, emotionally uncontrolled, a man eater… Do I need to say more?
I hate how ugly these competitions get. At one point, I believe the Clintons and Obama were quite close. It would have been wonderful if they had joined ranks, but apparently neither one could be second fiddle to the other, based on whatever personal issues and ambitions they had. It’s a shame. They would have been a remarkable team.
I agree this country is a mess. When I think of who I would like for President, I think “who can sit at a table with Vladimer Putin and command respect?” I admire Hillary for her strength. She has been in the worst possible circumstances personally and professionally and been able to rise above. I think she shows remarkable grace under pressure. Why is she not allowed to fire back when she is attacked unfairly? Any man would stand his ground undoubtably and be thought strong for doing so. I’m all for hope and positivity, but we need someone with a shovel who can dig us out of this pile of financial shit we are under. Taking on Washington has never been more difficult, but at least Hillary has no illusions to the games that people play. I also think it is clear that the old boys network still grinds away- keeping the power in the pockets of the few. If women, 51% of our society, mind you, don’t stand up to change the status quo, then we are complicit in our own victimization, and that is a real tragedy.
I’m not saying “if you don’t vote for Hillary then you are against women”. Im saying, here is a candidate that should be celebrated not only for her ability, but because she is standing up and facing a tidal wave of historic prejudice. The most sneaky prejudice in our society, that both men and women can be guilty of. That is the endless re-affirmation of the myth of “the little woman”. As in, “Get out your apron, girls. You’re only worth the cookies you bake for your man”.

a beautiful mind
Here is the latest post from wonderful Cady McClain, it was good good I had to post it on my blog. Feel free to comment...
I am very happy that Obama is raising the national spirit. It is wonderful that a man who is half white, half African American is being accepted without prejudice into the national spotlight as a viable, respectable option for the highest office in our country, he has a nice message that is very appealing, and maybe it’s just me, but… am I missing something?
Why is there NO coverage that this is the first time in American History that a WOMAN has also reached this pinnacle of respect and honor? Maybe Hillary isn’t running her campaign particularly effectively at the moment, but is anybody noticing that a WOMAN is RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT?
I had someone working on my phone for me, and he asked me what I thought about the race for pres. He noted that he didn’t think Hillary would win because “women don’t like having another woman for a boss.” WHAT?!
WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?
Is anybody else noticing how women (in general) are being depicted in our media these days? Does anybody else see this same old “virgin/victim/mother/whore/bitch” options that women are constantly slotted into? Honestly, it makes me sick. It is so INCREDIBLY disempowering for women, so tragically limiting for women of any age and a terrible way to show young women what the world can be, and btw, if you are a woman playing into this crap WAKE THE HELL UP!
Women have SO much to give as leaders. It is not a desire to crush men, or to have an emotional PMS style fury freak out. The media seems to continue to show Hillary on the defense, losing her cool. It revels in any emotion she displays, as if it say, “she’s a woman, and that means she can’t control her emotions, aka she is weak.” Anybody remember when she was being criticized for being UNEMOTIONAL?
When do you see MEN on this same chopping block? There was an article in the NY Times the other day that showed evidence that the media coverage of female celebrities focuses FAR more on ANY emotional troubles they might be having then it does on men. Is this because the public has a salacious appetite for “witch burning” or what? In my mind, that is what this all comes down to. An unspoken feeling of “how DARE a woman have an opinion without being apologetic and deferring”. She is a threat, therefore, shut her up by ridiculing her, humiliating her, tearing her persona apart. Sigh.
I will rant another time about how a woman’s sexuality is used against her 90 percent of the time, but lets just be grateful no one is calling Hillary a whore…YET.

"Touch My Body" is this week's HOT SHOT DEBUT on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart at #57 (Billboard issue date: March 1, 2008).
This is Mariah's highest debut on the chart that is based on first week's airplay alone.
In comparison, after their first week of airplay, "We Belong Together" debuted at #81 and "It's Like That" was #104 (#4 on the bubbling under Hot 100 chart.)
On the Hot 100 Airplay chart, the song debuts at #23 this week and becomes Mariah's highest debut on the chart since 1997's "Honey" which debuted at the same position.
"Touch My Body" also rockets up to #20 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, an incredible 58 spots jump from its last week's debut at #78.
An All Access banner from Island Def Jam announces "Touch My Body" at #23 on Billboard's Hot 100 Airplay (Greatest Gainer) as well as the fact it is the #1 most added record across all formats this week.

My favorite cable drama DIRT is back next week, I cant wait. I love Courtney Cox, her character on DIRT reminds me of Gail Weathers from Scream. CC def plays the bitch better.
